Woodside Rentals Info

Woodside Queens is a bustling neighborhood that is attracting an influx of renters thanks to its affordable apartments.
Woodside used to be known as Irishtown because some of the first immigrants to settle in the area were Irish. Renters can still experience the lingering Irish influences which can still be seen in the area's traditional pubs. The area that would become modern-day Woodside was first settled by Europeans in the mid-1600s. However, this settlement remained sparsely populated for many years to come and contained mostly farmland. It was only in the 1860s that the developer, Benjamin Hitchcock purchased the Kelly estate and transformed the surrounding area into a village. He borrowed the nickname given to it by its former inhabitant and dubbed it Woodside.
Woodside, Queens is a great neighborhood for young professionals, families with kids, and students. The neighborhood offers a relatively low cost of living and has many cheap rental apartments. This also makes the area popular with immigrants. You'll find residents from all over the world, and this has influenced the dining and shopping scene, with plenty of ethnic restaurants and shops.
A large portion of the homes found in Woodside is a mix of single-family homes and multi-family homes. There are also several large apartment buildings, albeit most are older, so tenants should not expect luxury amenities and high-end finishes.
In terms of real estate trends, Woodside offers lower rents than Manhattan and most parts of Brooklyn. A one-bedroom apartment is likely to be rented for less than $2,000 per month, making the area very affordable. However, in the past five years, with the influx of people into the neighborhood, prices have started to rise significantly, much to the dismay of current residents.
