Queens, New York is a very safe place to live compared to other cities of its size. It has the second-lowest crime rate out of the five boroughs in NYC (after Staten Island) and offers more affordable living in a safer environment for families and young professionals compared to Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Although Brooklyn and Manhattan tend to be feature pricier real estate, Queens has a rate of violent crime that is approximately than 40% lower than Brooklyn and 45% lower than Manhattan. In contrast, violent crime in the Bronx is more than 250% higher than in Queens.
