About Flatiron

Named after the iconic Flatiron building, which was completed in 1902 as one of the first skyscrapers in the world, the Flatiron District offers homebuyers an energetic downtown vibe in a more tranquil and relaxed package. Condos and apartments for sale in Flatiron are expensive due to their area's desirability.
The neighborhood is known for its excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment scenes, as well as its distinctive cast-iron and Beaux-Arts architecture. The Flatiron District is centrally located in the heart of midtown, bordering Union Square, Gramercy Park, Chelsea and Nomad, and offering homeowners easy access to both the east and west sides of Manhattan. Madison Square Park is also located in the neighborhood and provides residents a great place to escape the urban jungle and relax, enjoy some pop-art, or catch a concert. The neighborhood is also home to the International Toy Center and was known as the Toy District in times past. Nowadays the neighborhood is becoming more residential and is home to a thriving real estate market.
The real estate sales market in the Flatiron District is highly competitive, especially when it comes to luxury apartments, which are in high demand. Newer condo apartments can sell for over $2,000 per square foot. Apartments in cooperative buildings sell for closer to $1,000 per square foot but are generally sold very quickly, oftentimes receiving offers from multiple buyers leading to bid-wars.
