Previously known as Jennifer Towers, New York Tower is a luxury post-war apartment building that is located in midtown east, close to the East River. The building was designed in the Gilded Age style and has a stunning lobby finished in light and dark colored marble which harkens back to a different era, the New York of early 1900s. The apartments at New York Tower are a bit like a box of chocolates, in that you never truly know what you're going to get until you see them. Most units have been renovated in recent years, but the finishes vary even amongst the renovated apartments, and some older apartments remain unrenovated. You may get oak flooring or parquet flooring, and new high-end stainless steel appliances or older white kitchen appliances. What you can usually expect in most apartments is a pass-through kitchen with a breakfast bar. Many homes also feature private balconies and offer unobstructed vistas of the Manhattan skyline and the nearby Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and East River waterfront. As the only amenities are fairly basic- a doorman, on-site parking garage, and bicycle storage- the building has negotiated exclusive and generous discounts at the nearby New York Health and Racquet Club for residents. The club is located a few blocks away and features a variety of fitness equipment including strength training & cardio machines and free weights. There are also weekly group classes, a saltwater pool, and spa services including massages, steam rooms, and sauna. The property is also located nearby the 4, 5, 6, S, and 7 trains as well as the east 34th Street Ferry landing. The building's pet policy has recently changed, and dogs are not allowed unless they have been grandfathered in. Cats are still welcome.
